Join us for the launch of The Curator's Cup: Afternoon Tea at MCNY, featuring a live presentation and Q&A with Sarah Henry, Robert A. and Elizabeth Rohn Jeffe Chief Curator and Deputy Director. The discussion will delve into the creative process behind the museum’s exhibitions, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how MCNY curators shape a narrative to deliver memorable experiences that tell the stories of New York City.
We’ll explore the making of our upcoming show, Urban Stomp: Dreams and Defiance on the Dance Floor, and reflect on the major projects of our recent centennial exhibition, This Is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture.

About the speaker:
Dr. Sarah M. Henry is the Robert A. and Elizabeth Rohn Jeffe Chief Curator and Deputy Director at the Museum of the City of New York, where she has served since 2001, overseeing Museum exhibitions (over 200 to date) as well as publications and collections. She is responsible for the exhibition department’s program strategy, long-range planning, and content, and she has led the curatorial work on such acclaimed exhibitions as This Is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture (2023) and New York at Its Core (2016).
Sarah received a Ph.D. in U.S. History from Columbia University and a B.A. from Yale in History and Mathematics/Philosophy. She received the Manhattan Borough President’s “History Visionary Award,” is a member of the New York Academy of History, and serves on the board of the International Council of Museums’ Committee on the Collections and Activities of Museums of Cities.
