Legacy Society
To build on the Museum of the City of New York’s over 100-year history, legacy giving or planned giving is paramount. A growing number of generous friends are helping MCNY secure its future by including MCNY as the beneficiary of their will or trust, or retirement plan.
This engaged group of supporters enjoy an array of benefits including unlimited free admission, Museum discounts, and invitations to our exclusive Uptown After Hours Series, Curator’s Cup High Tea, Annual Leadership Welcome, and other members-only events.
Legacy Society
The Legacy Society was formed to recognize those individuals who establish and maintain an estate gift of any size for the benefit of MCNY. Legacy members will be part of a community of like-minded philanthropists looking to create a lasting legacy and enrich the lives of generations to come through one or more of the following:
Bequests
A gift in your will is a simple and flexible way to ensure the future of the Museum. A bequest can be made with cash, securities, real estate or personal property and be in the form of a dollar amount, specific asset, percentage of your estate, or residual balance. Your bequest can be designated towards specific programs or departments or can be left to the Museum where the need is the greatest.
Gift of Retirement Assets
Designate MCNY to receive all or a portion of the assets held in a 401(k), 403(b), IRA, or other retirement account. You can change your designation at any time, and you retain control of the assets during your lifetime.
Other Gifts
Gifting of charitable lead trusts, life insurance, and real property can also be used to support the Museum.
