Explore the intersection of strategy, history, and play in this evening inspired by The Occupied City: New York and the American Revolution. Presented by the Museum of the City of New York and Chess in the Schools, the event begins with a short talk on the role of chess in the Revolutionary era, exploring its connections to Enlightenment thought and 18th-century social life. Then, join us for an unrated blitz chess tournament, open to all skill levels, and explore The Occupied City.

Whether you’re a seasoned player or just learning, enjoy a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Drinks will be available at the Park View Bar, with light bites included in the ticket price. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers.

This event is part of the Revolution at Play series.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
