New Yorkers have continuously fought for equality of voting rights, fair wages, religious tolerance, and access to education, jobs, and housing.  Discover key social movements, leading activists, and how ordinary New Yorkers have exercised their power to shape the city’s and the nation’s future in the exhibition Activist New York. Create a mini magazine or “zine” championing a cause you care about!

Family programs are free with Museum admission and for Members, and geared toward families with children ages 6–12 years old. Activities are designed for adults and children to complete together.

Family and Community Engagement Programs are made possible in part by the Milton and Sally Avery Arts Foundation; Sy Syms Foundation; Lone Pine Foundation; and Louis Wiley, Jr.

The Frederick A.O. Schwarz Education Center is endowed by grants from The Thompson Family Foundation Fund, the F.A.O. Schwarz Family Foundation, the William Randolph Hearst Endowment, and other generous donors.
