Inspired by our exhibition Urban Stomp: Dreams and Defiance on the Dance Floor and in connection with Black History Month, join in as we celebrate the many ways Black New Yorkers have shaped the city we call home.

See it in the Gallery!

Ongoing 10am – 5pm

Pick up a scavenger hunt and visit the exhibition Urban Stomp: Dreams and Defiance on the Dance Floor to explore the history of Lindy Hop in New York City!

Arts & Crafts

Ongoing, 11am–4pm

Celebrate the rich history and cultural impact of Black New Yorkers through an engaging art-making experience! Begin your journey by exploring stories of influential figures featured across the museum’s exhibitions. Learn about their contributions to art, activism, music, and community life, and discover how their legacies continue to shape New York City today.

Then, unleash your creativity! Using vibrant colors, bold shapes, and imaginative features, design a portrait inspired by the historical figure you explored. Our workshop provides all the art supplies you need to bring your vision to life—whether you choose paint, collage, or mixed media.

This hands-on program is perfect for all ages and skill levels. Come ready to learn, create, and celebrate the power of art and history!
