On Thursday, April 13 from 11am to 4pm, MCNY and the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival (IPRHFF) co-present Movies for Minis / Películas Para Minis at the Museum of the City of New York! Geared towards families with children ages 5 – 12 years old, this bilingual film festival features short films in both English and Spanish created by artists celebrating their Latin American roots and culture. We will screen two different blocks of short films, including animated shorts, that your whole family can enjoy!

Block A is geared towards children ages 5 - 8 featuring: 

  • The Ascent directed by Derek Rivera  

  • Desde El Cosmos directed by Rebeca Arce Renta 

  • A Tale From Frames by Jesús A. Sánchez Rolón 

  • Celestial Beings by Glenda M. Roman Arroyo 

  • The Sprayer by Farnoosh Abedi 

  • Kit and Kat by Camile M. Negron Acosts 

  • Lightwaves by Vanessa Figueroa Otero 

  • Lost Stars by Andrew C. Candelaria Guzman 

  • One More Day by Arielíz González Albino

  • Slimies by Yamil Medina 

  • Tip Your Pizza Guy by Natasha Padilla Rodriguez 

 Block B is geared towards children ages 9 and up featuring:

  • Dak’toka Taino directed by Alba Enid Garcia 
     
  • Echo directed by Barzan Rostami 

  • Bite to Eat by Jacqueline Acosta 

  • Death Minus by Bryan Aguayo Liceaga

  • The Tune in Terrors by Paola M. Martínez Vega 

  • Tip Your Pizza Guy by Natasha Padilla Rodriguez  

  • The Walls by Bryam J. Jiménez López 

  • The Rainbow Prince by Laura Napier 

 

Event Timeline: 

  • 11am - 12pm: First session of Block A screening. 
  • 12pm - 1:15pm: First session of Block B screening 
  • 1:45pm - 2:45pm: Second session of Block A screening
  • 2:45pm - 4pm: Second session of Block B screening

 

The incredible roster of artists and filmmakers that created these projects are presented by the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival, whose aim is to explore issues inherent to the heritage of Puerto Rico, its diaspora, and stories relevant to the larger Latino community.

Included with Museum admission, this family activity is geared toward children ages 5 – 12. Pre-registration is recommended!
