New Yorkers capture moments every day that showcase their neighborhoods and communities.

How would you share your New York City story?

Stop by the Museum of the City of New York to learn about the many ways New Yorkers have shared their New York City stories over the years, with art and artifacts representing each of the city’s 5 boroughs.

Time: 11am-4pm

From mosaics by local artist Manny Vega to a painting by Brooklyn-based painter Malcah Zeldis, visitors are invited to experience the art firsthand using a scavenger hunt before participating in a range of interactive activities, including a riddle-based guessing game connected to the scavenger hunt, mosaic-making, and creating maps of their own community inspired by objects from the museum’s collection.

This month’s programs are inspired by Byzantine Bembé: New York by Manny Vega, an exhibition that features the works of local artist Manny Vega, the Museum’s inaugural artist-in-residence. Vega depicts scenes from the Museum of the City of New York’s own neighborhood, El Barrio, where he was raised, and invites visitors to learn more about our neighborhood and to consider their own.

Discover their stories and share your own at this month’s NYC Discovery Lab.

Activities are included with general admission. Geared towards ages 6+ and open to all.
