Modes of Transportation in NYC
For kids who dare to design modes of transportation for New Yorkers! Campers start each day by visiting various exhibitions at the Museum of City of New York, and learn about the history of transportation in NYC from horse carriages to ships, subway trains, cars, planes, bikes, scooters and more. They will then design and build new vehicles to help New Yorkers get from A to B in style and in environmentally friendly way! From self-driving cars, to to food trucks, taxi cabs, police cars, fire engines, planes, spaceships, boats, banana mobiles, scooters, delivery robots, and everything in between!
Campers will learn different building techniques, mechanical science, and electronics to design and build their vehicles, make them move, sense, light up and buzz. We’ll use a variety of building tools such as laser cut models, Rigamajig, LEGO, cardboard, and balloons; simple electronics such as LEDs, DC motors, and solar panels; as well as creative tech tools such as littleBits, Microbots, and more. Campers will craft and build their own vehicles, engage in creative and imaginative play, and explore the world with their moving gadgets!
