About The Puffin Foundation Center for New York City Activism

The Puffin Foundation Center for New York City Activism is a permanent home at the Museum of the City of New York dedicated to the history and ongoing legacy of civic engagement and social movements in New York City. Housed in a newly renovated wing of the Museum, the Puffin Center opened to the public on September 25, 2026, with two inaugural exhibitions, Raise Your Voice: New York Activism and Halumii Ktapihna: Lenape Legacies and Futures.

Raise Your Voice is the permanent cornerstone exhibition of the Puffin Center, succeeding the Museum's long-running exhibition Activist New York. The Puffin Center also features a series of rotating temporary exhibitions that complement both the Puffin Center’s work and the permanent exhibition, building on the Museum's longstanding commitment to exploring the history of social change in New York City.

In addition to exhibitions, the Puffin Center will present a series of public programs that includes lectures, film screenings, book talks, and family engagement. The Puffin Center will also operate a 12-year annual fellowship program and a new series of publications, ensuring that original research and creative practice are central to the Puffin Center’s public engagement.

The Puffin Foundation Center for New York City Activism is made possible by The Puffin Foundation.
