As we look ahead to our 2021 events, we are putting plans in place for safe, socially distanced fundraisers that will enable us to keep the Museum, its mission, and our community thriving. We’re proud that the Museum was able to provide reprieve to so many New Yorkers over the past year, and, working in accordance with local and state mandates, look forward to seeing you all back at the Museum soon.
Fall Symposium & Luncheon
On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, the Museum of the City of New York is excited to host its Fall Symposium & Luncheon in celebration of the artists and designers who have made New York City the design capital of the world. Over the last year and a half, the artists and designers of New York City have shown the breadth of their innovation and creativity in support of their fellow New Yorkers – from pivoting to mask making, to re-envisioning interior and exterior design layouts to allow for safe gatherings, to lifting the spirits of the local communities through new, site-specific works of art.
In the spirit of these innovators, this year’s Symposium & Luncheon will feature a panel of design experts.
- Led by Stellene Volandes, Editor-in-Chief of Town & Country
- Isaac Mizrahi, Performer, Writer, Designer & Producer
- Clint Ramos, Designer/Creative Producer
- Alex Vadukul, City Correspondent for The New York Times

Spring Gala: Music of the ‘80s
On June 9, 2021, the Museum was pleased to honor LL COOL J, Cyndi Lauper, and Kevin Liles with the Gotham Icon Award in celebration of how they have paved the way for the next generation in their respective industries. We truly enjoyed hearing from each honoree and watching tribute videos in honor of their legacies.
We were thrilled to finally have been able to welcome many guests back to the Museum. Though we missed seeing some of you, we are glad to present a virtual presentation of the Spring Gala: Music of the '80s.
