MCNY Big Apple Bash

Special Events

As we look ahead to our 2021 events, we are putting plans in place for safe, socially distanced fundraisers that will enable us to keep the Museum, its mission, and our community thriving. We’re proud that the Museum was able to provide reprieve to so many New Yorkers over the past year, and, working in accordance with local and state mandates, look forward to seeing you all back at the Museum soon.

Spring Gala: Music of the ‘80s

On June 9, 2021, the Museum was pleased to honor LL COOL J, Cyndi Lauper, and Kevin Liles with the Gotham Icon Award in celebration of how they have paved the way for the next generation in their respective industries. We truly enjoyed hearing from each honoree and watching tribute videos in honor of their legacies.

We were thrilled to finally have been able to welcome many guests back to the Museum. Though we missed seeing some of you, we are glad to present a virtual presentation of the Spring Gala: Music of the '80s.

Spring Symposium & Luncheon

At the Spring Symposium & Luncheon, the Museum awards the City of Design Award to recognize those who have made New York the design capital of the world and who inspire future generations of designers to bring their talents to our great city. Past recipients of the City of Design Award include Cynthia Rowley, Elizabeth Graziolo, Peter Marino, Jacques Grange and Ralph Pucci, and Jonathan Adler and Simon Doonan.

NYC Champions & Change Makers

On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, we paid tribute to countless acts of heroism happening across the five boroughs during the COVID-19 crisis while shining a light on the way New Yorkers have historically persevered no matter the circumstances.  It was a celebration of the change makers around our city working towards a more safe, just, and equitable world, the evening will share New York’s stories of hope and great bravery – past and present.

The evening featured a live welcome from the Museum's Director, followed by special guest appearances and ended with a salute to the 7 pm clap out for New York's front-line workers.
