From the streets to the parks to the beaches of Coney Island, Dandy Wellington and his seven-piece band present an ode to experiencing New York, "Out of Doors." Featuring guest vocal + piano duo Miss Maybell and Charlie Judkins and international showgirl Gin Minsky, this performance will traverse the city's public spaces through song. 

This program is inspired by our centennial exhibition, This Is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture

Before the band plays, get moving with swing dance lessons and a performance by The Harlem Swing Dance Society.

About the performers:
Dandy Wellington is a bandleader, entertainer, event producer, and creative consultant, born-and-raised in Harlem, New York. Influenced by the style and skill of classic entertainers of the past but with his feet planted in the present, it’s no surprise that he has made a name for himself across the globe. From producing stylish events all over New York to performances in St. Petersburg, London, and Sydney, Dandy solidifies himself as not only an impeccably dressed man-about-town, but a bonafide man-of-the-world. Dandy’s signature panache and eye for detail has earned him features in The Financial Times, Country Living, The Robb Report, Vogue Magazine, and various other outlets renowned for their taste and sophistication. 

Gin Minsky, the epitome of Old Hollywood glamour and artistry, is an award-winning internationally-renowned tap dancer, burlesque performer, and sword swallower. With an illustrious career spanning 15 years, she has captivated audiences on both national and international stages, becoming a true luminary in the entertainment realm. Her performances include a varied spectrum of specialized dance acts and sideshow spectacle, suitable for a wide range of venues from cabaret clubs to upscale concert halls to corporate galas.

Miss Maybell and Charlie Judkins are a prolific jazz age musical duo hailing from NYC who play jazz, blues and ragtime music. You can enjoy their sound on their critically acclaimed albums The Lingering Blues (2019) and Cares Will Be Forever Ended (2021).
