Assistant Manager, Institutional Giving

The Museum seeks an Assistant Manager, Institutional Giving to manage a shared portfolio that includes large traditional foundations and family foundations, as well as city, state, and federal government agencies. This position reports to the Director, Institutional Giving and works with the Manager, Institutional Giving.The Assistant Manager will support the Institutional Giving team’s prospecting, budgeting, and fundraising goals associated with an endowment campaign as part of the Museum’s 2023 Centennial.

The Museum seeks a Freelance Digital Projects Coordinator to help with the expansion and awareness of the Museum of the City of New York’s brand and digital footprint. The role is a researcher, storyteller, and project manager all in one, and will work with partners to build, implement and share the Museum's content in an accessible and engaging way within digital products (apps, podcasts, video series) and on the Museum’s owned channels.

Art Handler

Reporting to the Registrar, the Art Handler is responsible for the safe handling, moving, and installation of objects in the Museum of the City of New York’s collection or on loan to the Museum. In this capacity, the Art Handler facilitates activities in the galleries and collection storerooms, both on-site and off, executing best practices for the packing, handling, installation, and movement of objects.

Seasonal Retail Assistant, Inventory and E-Commerce

The Museum is seeking a Retail E-Commerce Assistant, responsible for supporting our online store operations through the holidays as part of the larger retail department. The museum is expanding our e-commerce product selection and refining our customer service experience online, so it’s an exciting time to join our team.  This position focuses on merchandise fulfillment for ecommerce including picking, packing and shipping of online orders, including in-store pick up.  This role will participate in weekly team meetings to streamline our online store processes and optimize work flow.  The Retail E-Commerce Assistant will be involved in formatting our website, adding images and products as needed, and keeping our content current with important messages and information for our customers.

Manager, Visitor /Retail Customer Relations

Manager, Corporate Relations

The Museum of the City of New York seeks a Manager, Corporate Relations, to work as an essential member of the Development team responsible for managing the Museum’s corporate funder portfolio. The Manager raises funds from corporations through membership and sponsorships and is responsible for executing and fulfilling all funder benefits. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for corporate communications, corporate member renewals and reporting, increasing membership retention and attracting new members, and organizing member events in conjunction with other Development team staff. Finally, the Manager, Corporate Relations, raises sponsorship funds for Museum exhibitions and programs. Museum Attendant Guard

The Museum seeks a Museum Attendant Guard who is responsible for the safety and security of the Museum’s staff, visitors, objects, building, and the Museum’s other physical property. The Museum Attendant Guard is also responsible in assisting with the regular cleaning of exhibition areas, private and public spaces, courtyards and sidewalks as directed. Museum Junior Library Custodian

The Museum seeks a Museum Junior Library Custodian responsible for the cleaning of the Museum’s public galleries and spaces, including sidewalks, all office and staff work areas while adhering to regular cleaning and maintenance schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly or as directed) and all in accordance to the standards set by Museum management. Visitor Services and Retail Associate

The Museum seeks enthusiastic and outgoing individuals with admissions and retail experience to join our Visitor Services/Retail Department. The Associate serves the vital role of welcoming guests from all walks of life to the Museum. Applicants must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required. This is a part-time position. The Visitor Services and Retail Associate reports to the Manager, Visitor Services/Retail.

The Museum offers a variety of fall, spring, and summer internships for college and graduate students. Acceptance into the internship program is based on academic achievement, interests, experience, and availability. Applications are rolling, but follow a semester timeline. Time commitments are flexible and dependent on the Museum’s needs. All internships are unpaid.

Digital Projects Intern

The Digital Projects Intern role is a researcher, storyteller, and project manager all in one. This role would be an apprenticeship under the Vice President, Marketing Communications. The project helps with the expansion and awareness of the Museum of the City of New York’s brand and digital footprint by identifying, curating, and marketing our exhibitions and collections in digital applications (apps, online channels) that reach both our on-site visitors and digital community.
