Art-Making and Discussion with MCNY

See. Discuss. Create! Dive into the Museum's collections and exhibitions and make your own artistic works.

Stream these free sessions to see highlights from the Museum’s collections and exhibitions, hear behind-the-scenes stories from the artists, and take part in interactive, art-making activities.

Recommended for ages 7 and older. All ages are welcome. Sessions are intergenerational and family members are encouraged to join and participate together.

Combine art and engineering in this virtual intergenerational STEAM education program as you draw inspiration from the famous Stettheimer dollhouse to design your own miniature world.

We invite you to submit photos of artwork to be considered for a student gallery of work on the Museum of the City of New York’s website. To send in a submission, please fill out the Student Artwork Permission Form and email a signed copy to familyprograms@mcny.org along with a digital image of the artwork.

Timed to kick off Census Digital Weekend, the pilot episode will feature a conversation on works in the Museum’s current exhibition, Who We Are: Visualizing NYC by the Numbers, which also connects to the 2020 Census.

Robert A. and Elizabeth Rohn Jeffe Chief Curator and Deputy Director Sarah Henry will be joined by information designer Giorgia Lupi, a partner at Pentagram, and artist and computer scientist Brian Foo.

Sean Corcoran, Curator of Prints and Photographs, will join photographers Valery Rizzo (@valrizzo) and Ruben Natal-SanMiguel (@Rubennatal.sanmiguel) who have submitted their images to #CovidStoriesNYC, MCNY's initiative to document the perspectives and stories happening around New York during the COVID-19 pandemic.

They will discuss a selection of images and expand on their experiences documenting this unique and challenging time for New York City.
