Radio and television provided the play-by-play coverage; newspapers conveyed the drama of the day's game, but the proliferating sports and general interest magazines of the era gave readers an up close acquaintance with the players of the Glory Days. The 1950s saw the flourishing of photo magazines, including Life and LOOK, both of which were founded in the 1930s, and the advent of color sports-picture magazines, including SPORT (founded in 1946) and Sports Illustrated (founded in 1954).
