Housing Tomorrow's City
With a population of more than 8.6 million and growing, New York City is experiencing a housing crisis that threatens its future vitality.
Facing age-old concerns, such as rising rents and crumbling buildings, compounded by challenges of climate change and a globalized real-estate market, the city needs to determine how it will provide homes for its residents. In this series, we tackle these issues head-on as leading thinkers, designers, artists, and activists explore their most innovative and radical ideas to consider the future of housing.
This series is inspired by our Future City Lab, the interactive third gallery of New York at Its Core, the Museum's landmark permanent exhibition on New York City's 400 year history. The series is presented in memory of Future City Lab curator Hilary Ballon.
