Setting the Stage: Scenic Designs by Donald Oenslager
Feb 14, 2008 through May 4, 2008

In a career that spanned some 50 years, Donald Oenslager (1902-1975) revolutionized American scenic design with his emphasis on symbolism and the interpretive use of lighting. This exhibition features designs for such shows as You Can't Take It With You and A Majority of One, for which Oenslager won the 1959 Tony Award. Some of the 20 original sketches on view in Setting the Stage: Scenic Designs by Donald Oenslager are paired with set models or photographs from the actual productions.
