It's in the Bag: Purses from the Permanent Collection

With more than one hundred purses, drawn from the Museum’s Costume Collection and dating from the 18th century to the present day, It's in the Bag reveals the many styles and shapes of handbags used by New Yorkers to carry their essentials and frivolities. Materials vary from spun steel to gold mesh, hand-beaded to raised sheet silver. Featured designers include Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Schiaparelli, Hattie Carnegie, and Judith Lieber.
