Transformed by Light: The New York Night
Dec 21, 2005 through May 7, 2006

Transformed by Light: The New York Night reveals how illumination shaped the legend and experience of the 24-hour city. The exhibition immerses visitors in a series of environments that portray the essential role of light in the construction of New York life--on the street, at home, in the office, on the town. Artifacts range from Rockefeller Tree bulbs to a giant neon 'i' that once towered over Columbus Circle. The exhibition is curated and designed by Chicken&Egg Public Projects and features state-of-the-art lighting by ten contemporary design firms.

Transformed by Light:  The New York Night is made possible by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, with support from Cooper Lighting, GE Consumer & Industrial Lighting, Holophane, Osram Sylvania, Lithonia Lighting, Lumec, Inc., Philips Lighting, Con-Tech Lighting, Day-Brite Capri Omega, Edison Price Lighting, Lightolier, Litecontrol, M.
