The Mythic City: Photographs of New York by Samuel H. Gottscho, 1925-1940
Nov 1, 2005 through Apr 9, 2006

During the 1920s and 30s, architectural photographer Samuel H. Gottscho created a portrait of New York as the quintessential modern metropolis. The Mythic City: Photographs of New York by Samuel H. Gottscho, 1925-1940 features nearly 150 photographs from the Museum's vast collection of Gottscho's work--including skylines, aerials, bridges, and signature skyscrapers, as well as commercial and residential building interiors. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue of the same title, authored by Donald Albrecht, the Museum's Curator of Architecture and Design, and published by Princeton Architectural Press.

Lead funding for The Mythic City: Photographs of New York by Samuel H. Gottscho, 1925-1940 is generously provided by Elizabeth R. Miller and James G. Dinan.
