The South Street Seaport Museum, now operating under the auspices of the Museum of the City of New York, has debuted its inaugural installation--OPENING: A WORK IN PROGRESS – presenting 16 galleries interweaving the city and the sea, then and now, through photography, video, historic artifacts, and contemporary design. The offerings are diverse, pointing toward a future for the museum as a cultural oasis that is as lively, dynamic, and varied as this seaport city itself has always been.
