About Pilates

Joseph Pilates created a visionary solution to the modern lifestyle called “Contrology,” or the “science of control.” He centered a system of dynamic physical exercises, apparatuses, and precise breathing/movement techniques for the core of the human frame. It was so effective that it burgeoned from a cottage industry to a global health practice that we now call Pilates.

About the Instructor

Alexia Simmons founded Pilates Perfect Studio in 2016. Located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, she teaches private one-on-one Pilates sessions in a boutique-style studio. Her expertise has been recognized as far away as California, where she is an adjunct lead teacher trainer at Core Arts Pilates. She was certified at The Pilates Studio of New York (now known as True Pilates or Romana’s Pilates) in 2003.
