Immigration Then and Now with CUNY’s American Social History Project

Focusing on the Activist New York exhibition and the American Social History Project documentary and curriculum Heaven Will Protect the Working Girl: Immigrant Women in the Turn-of-the-Century City, teachers will participate in role-play and “Reader’s Theater” activities that integrate rich historical content and theatrical expression. Educators teaching industrialization, Progressive Era movements, immigration, or labor reform will benefit from learning how to use informational texts in this creative way.
