The Museum of the City of New York continues to digitize and catalog its collections at a lightning speed. You'll find more than 35,000 new images from our photography, prints, drawings, and maps collections online now, bringing the total number of images available to just under 100,000! Highlights from these new collections include photographs taken by Stanley Kubrick when he was a staff photographer for LOOK Magazine in the late 1940's; Thomas Nast's political cartoons from the late 1800's; 19th century Currier & Ives lithographs colorfully and quaintly depicting American life; maps showing the city's growth from the 17th century onward; and historic postcards from every borough in the city. Not only does a print from one of these images make a unique gift for the holidays, but most are available for commercial and scholarly use as well. For more information on our exhibition quality prints please contact our Rights and Reproductions Department. For permission to use images in your next project, contact the Rights and Reproductions Department at 212-534-1672, extension 3375, or email rights@mcny.org.
