Big Apple Bash

Don’t miss the 8th annual Big Apple Bash, a benefit party hosted by our Young Members Circle, a membership group for rising professionals ages 21-39. Enjoy a specially curated cocktail, dancing on our Fifth Avenue Terrace overlooking Central Park, and private access to all of the Museum's exhibitions, including our upcoming exhibition, Affordable New York: A Housing Legacy!

Uncovered NYC: Walking Tour of Soho & Nolita
Saturday, August 8th 11:00am - 2:00pm

Join Folk City exhibition curator Stephen Petrus for a walking tour through the neighborhoods of Soho and Nolita. Learn about the transformation of the district from manufacturing to artists’ enclave to gentrified commercial area. The two-hour tour will conclude at a neighborhood establishment for an afternoon pick-me-up! Advance registration is required. FREE for Young Members

Uptown Bounce
Wednesdays, August 5th & August 12, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join the Museum of the City of New York and El Museo del Barrio for our second annual Uptown Bounce summer series, a festival taking place four consecutive Wednesday evenings featuring music, gallery talks, art workshops, breakdancing, summer drinks, and local food. Admission is free and open to visitors of all ages but advanced registration is required for each event. Presented in conjunction with Hip-Hop Revolution. Advance registration is required. FREE

Sketch and Sip
Tuesday, August 11th, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Put pencil to paper and relax with drinks on our elegant Fifth Avenue terrace, overlooking the Central Park Conservatory Gardens. Simon Levenson, professional artist and instructor of last year's popular sold-out series, will guide you through the techniques of sketching, with each Tuesday session featuring a different theme in conjunction with new special exhibitions such as Hip-Hop Revolution: Photographs by Janette Beckman, Joe Conzo, and Martha Cooper and Saving Place: Fifty Years of New York City Landmarks. Open to participants ages 21 & up. Includes two drinks (wine, beer, and soda will be served) and drawing materials for use during class time. Reservations are required.
