I Spy New York: Capturing the City Through the Camera
A Digital Photography Class for Students in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grades

Lean from the Museum’s renowned photography collection and work under the direction of a professional photographer to photograph the major elements of the city, including its buildings, parks, and people. Show your new knowledge and skills in a student exhibition at the Museum.

For an enrollment fee of $600, this 6-week course includes:

  • Use of professional digital cameras
  • Field trips
  • Printing, matting and framing of photo by the student
  • An exhibition of student photographs with opening reception
  • All materials! Cyanotype paper, negatives, inkjet paper, mats, and more
  • Behind the scenes access to the Museum collection and photography studio
  • Password-protected access for parents to view student photos
  • Small class size with 2 teachers


Get ready for the first ever I Spy NY 2.0 in spring 2016! Students in grades 2–4 can join us Wednesdays in April and May. Registration opens Thursday, November 15.

A Fashion History and Design Class for Students in 4th and 5th Grades

Fashion Show: Wednesday, February 24 at 5:00 pm

Learn how New York City became the fashion center of the world through a behind-the-scenes look at our costume collection. Get inspired by historical designs and learn from today’s up-and-coming fashion designers to create an original piece of your own!

For an enrollment fee of $600, this 6-session course includes:

  • Sketching and sewing instruction
  • Behind-the-scenes access to the Museum costume collection
  • All materials! Fabric, accessories, sketchbooks, and more
  • Field trips
  • A fashion show of student creations with reception
  • Small class size with 2 teachers
