BROOKLYN FACADE: 65-71 COLUMBIA HEIGHTS
Between Cranberry and Middagh Streets
MAY 14, 1936. ABBOTT FILE 125

These narrow brownstone houses were built circa 1860 as rental properties in the northwestern corner of Brooklyn Heights. Abbott photographed them close up, drawn to their proportion and the detailing of their facades. In 1950, the houses were demolished for the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. A playground occupies the site, with the expressway running directly underneath it.
